In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing aids are one of the most discrete and nearly universal hearing aids to support a wide variety of hearing related issues. Situated just outside the outer ear bowl (concha), ITEs are connected to a custom-molded earpiece, fitting right inside the ear canal.

Popular amongst all audiologists, ITEs can benefit people who have all different types of hearing loss, from notably mild to more severe cases.

While the benefits of hearing aids are endless to individual users, ITEs are most widely used due to the following reasons:

  • They include features that don’t exist on other types of hearing aids, including volume and noise control.
  • They tend to be easier to use and handle for the majority people.
  • The larger the device, the more powerful device, meaning that you can hear more depending on the size you have or choose.
  • They have a larger battery than other hearing aid devices, making the device operational for a longer amount of time.
  • New hearing aid technology on ITEs include telecoils, which are small, magnetic coils that receive sound through the device’s circuitry system, rather than the hearing aid itself. If a public or private space has installed an induction loop system, the telecoil can also link to these channels, making it easier to hear in large or crowded areas.

With new research and developments in the field of audiology, ITEs have become increasingly efficient and high-tech. Nowadays, new hearing aids can even link to smart phones, where you can control volume, see the battery life of your device, and even make adjustments to various settings, at the touch of your fingertips.

With a wide variety of makes and models on the market, the Center supports and services some of the best hearing aid brands, including Phonak, ReSound, Starkey, and Oticon.

While in-the-ear hearing aids are an excellent choice for adults suffering from a range of hearing loss cases, ITEs are not recommended for children, as a custom-molded earpiece would have to be replaced frequently as the child grew.

Whatever your hearing and hearing aid related issues might be, all of our audiology specialists have many years of combined and individual experience to assist you in any and all ways to provide you with the best hearing you’ve ever had.
