Equally important is to make it a habit to talk with children about the things that interest them the most. This helps children to interact using communication and language in a more effective manner. Along the same lines it is always a good idea to have a two-sided conversation with children as much as possible. It is the back and forth use of language with children that can greatly enhance their overall language and literacy skills. In short, the more times that the conversation is volleyed back and forth the greater benefit to children overall. Another important aspect of good conversation with children (that is designed to improve communication and mastery of the language) is to talk at a level that kids can understand.
